School Highlight: Tepper Announces a new way to interact and educate MBA prospectives
I was notified by one of the project team members that put this together with Tepper. It's the most significant overhaul of how a Business School interfaces with students. It called MBAReality Check. What I like about the effort is that it begins as a general education for all MBA prospectives. It's an excellent way for a Business School to play a role in educating the public on the MBA being a tool for a career goal.
There are features to the program that one would expect and some that no other school currently does: 1) Blogs and Profiles of a 1/2 dozen students 2) Survey results of why people go for an MBA. 3) Videos 4) Salary and job impacts that an MBA has. (customized with Tepper info) 5) General articles on MBA impact 6) Podcasts with strategic topics on Tepper and general MBA impacts.
This is the most comprehensive effort to connect, educate and dialogue with MBA prospectives by a ranking top 30 Business School that I've ever seen. Great job Tepper!
Here's a descriptive excerpt from the Tepper MBAReality check web site.
We Think It's Time For A Wake Up Call.
And we're not alone. The amount of global information and attention that is focused on the MBA degree has reached a fever pitch. Unfortunately, it can be a confusing, contradictory and crowded arena. With thousands of B-schools worldwide, what's an MBA candidate to do?
MBA Reality Check.com is the Tepper School's response to the current marketplace that prospective students face. Call it our attempt to help you get your bearings. Frankly, we think some things matter more than others. Unquestionable preparation to lead in any global business situation, for instance, should be a minimum requirement. The frequency of workshops that provide tips on your wardrobe and catchy cocktail ice breakers, are, um, not the best way to evaluate your MBA return on investment.
Tepper (along with many other leading B-schools) often sees the right people talking about the wrong things.
MBA Reality Check.com is intended to be a place where some of those right things bubble to the surface with the aim of helping MBA applicants make informed decisions. No assumptions, less second-guessing and fewer fallacies about what makes a "good school." We believe that the most successful students are those who have truly thought through what they want from the academic experience.
Would we like MBA Reality Check to support Tepper's recruiting efforts? Of course. (Why do you think "Apply Online" is so conveniently placed in the upper right corner?) But as a top-tier business school that has been in the business of producing graduates who move into leadership ranks of virtually every industry, Tepper has a serious interest in ensuring standards of academic excellence regarding business leaders' performance and contributions to global business management.
This fall and winter, MBA Reality Check.com will be providing relevant resources and information related to five key reality checks that impact the value and shelf life of your MBA degree.
* September: Career Readiness & Performance * October: The Confidence To Succeed * November: Culture And Community * December: MBA Intellectual Capital * January: The Character Of A B-School
