B- School News

• Current expansion plans require an additional $30 million over and above Ross's $100 million donation.
• It's important to note that the new facility is part of the school’s eight-year, $350 million campaign called The Michigan Difference: Leading in Thought and Action, which started in 2000. So far, $245 million has been raised.
• Phase I included the announcement of Kohn Pederson Fox(KPF) as the facilities designer. KPF designed Wharton's Huntsman Hall, Stanford School of Business, as well as a portion of the latest buildings at UCLA, Univ of Chicago, NYU, and Oxford.
• Construction is set to begin May 2006. Therefore, my prediction is that the school re-modeling should be completed some time in early 2009. That means, going to Ross now is going to be VERY inconveniant as a student with regard to finding reasonable group study locations, hanging out around school and being moved around as sections of buildings are torn down. As this is a re-model as opposed to say a new building, I wonder how bad it will get. Ross is a pretty busy building as it is during school term. This construction is going to drastically change what students can partake in for a a few years. Such is the cost of a great new re-model right!
• Preliminary details of the building designs will be released this summer (05')
• The proposed concept features a spiral roof line beginning with three stories at the building entrance and ascending to six stories at the apex. At present, the Ross School campus has 306,400 square feet. Based on the initial concepts, approximately 181,800 may be demolished and 245,000 will be added. The net gain to the campus will be 100,000 square feet with an estimated 80 percent of operations moving to a new location.
