The controversy should stop now & What's New Monday Part I

With the Oscars over, I just needed to make some points for future reference.
1) I should have taken more seriously how the Academy had no intention of giving any Oscar to "Passion of Christ".
2) Martin Scorsece must have really pissed off the members of the Academy. I doubt he'll ever get an Academy. How do you reject a guy like this for years by not giving him the oscar for movies like "Raging Bull". "Goodfellas", "Casino" and now "Aviator"? Politics always create injustice. That really sucks.

For a pretty funny synopsis of the Academy Awards, go to www.defamer.com

Not too long ago, bskewl ridiculed myself and Aregon for what appeared to be a lack of mention of his Blog on our own Blogs. bskewl, if I'm wrong about this point, please correct me. He posted this comment on a rogue web site that came up intending to create a community effort to judge the best and worst blogs. This web site would have been fun if it had stayed in the realm of being respectful. However, it didn't.

About a month ago, the 2005 Bloggies awards were posted. It has award categories that include:
-Best Weblog Directory or Update Monitor
-Best Programming of a Weblog Site
-Best Weblog About Music
-Best Food Weblog
-Best Entertainment Weblog
-Best Writing of a Weblog

Awards of cash were given. Kind of cool I think. This might have been a better approach to the Web site judging.

With regard's to the "pick the suckiest MBA related blog" I can also see how some people might find this funny. Although, it's the kind of funny at other people's expense. In other words, it's quite High Schoolish.

Now Iceman07 recently posted an absolutely funny turn on your head witty comment about the back and forth comments between Aregon and Bskewl.

Personally, I think Bskewl's blog entries are pretty damn witty and creative. I've already talked with Bskewl. That's the way I like to handle things. I don't like throwing grenades over the hill. Yes, Bskewl got personal with me publicly. Uh, so what. I've talked with him and he knows where I sit and I know his position. We don't agree, but such is life. I feel terrible about the death of his friend. Personally, I'd like to see him get back to blogging as usual.

For all others reading the controversy. It's always fun when it doesn't involve you isn't it? For the effort that I've put into this Blog and for the work that I've done to be honest about my MBA journey only to be sidetracked by these side comments would show just how insecure, overly-sensitive and small I really am. As this is not the case, I just wanted to mention my point of view on the situation. I dealt with it head on, I give credit where credit is due and ignored the rest.

Wharton news/Philly - Thanks to Graham and Hella for mentioning this. For those going to Wharton and are considering whether to buy a car or not, walk or use public Trans, you should know that SEPTA is increasing it's fares. <<>>> Pending additional funding or legal action, SEPTA will enact the first phase of its Contingency Plan on Sunday, March 6, 2005 - including a 25 percent fare increase, 20% reduction in weekday service and some reductions in weekend service. At its February meeting, the Board considered the second step of the fare increase. The second fare increase was vetoed by the two Philadelphia Board members. The Board will attempt to override that veto at their March 24 meeting.

MBA General Info - TheLadders.com released a PR article that talks about how an MBA may not be necessary to get ahead. As much as I agree with this article, where it falls short is in describing the time line of an an individual to advance in their career with an MBA and without an MBA. In other words, this is a PR article and nothing else in my book that is trying to sell the services of their company. I hate articles like this. The article is titled, "Does an MBA Matter in the Real Business World?" Apparently, 57% of Executives Say the Advanced Degree is Nice, But Not Necessary In TheLadders.com Survey. New York, NY (PRWEB) February 28, 2005 -- With the average salary of business school graduates now topping $82,000, and some elite schools boasting average graduate salaries well into the $100k+ range, it may seem that getting a Master"s Degree in Business Administration is the ticket to financial security. But does having an MBA really impact your success in the business world? According to a survey conducted by TheLadders.com, the world"s leading $100,000+ job website, 57% of executives said the degree is valuable, but not essential.
