GMAT® Registrations & Program Applications
Beginning in March, GMAT® registrations for 2006 began to outpace registrations for the same period in 2005. Registration volume for the GMAT® through the first five months of 2006 was 96,714 worldwide, 3.9% more than the number of registrations during the same period in 2005. Registration volume increased 2.8% within the U.S. and 6.3% outside the U.S.
Early data from the 2006 GMAC® Application Trends Survey also show that application volume is higher than it was this time last year, further signaling a positive trend in the demand for the MBA.
GMAT® Testing Volume
Testing volume for the first six weeks of 2006 started out slow, but returned to normal levels by week seven and has remained comparable to previous years.
We noticed a similar slowdown in testing volume when we made the transition to computer-adaptive testing, and we believe that this initial decrease in test administrations was also partly due to early issues with test center access. The Council has addressed these issues with Pearson VUE, and testing volume is back to expected levels.

The number of GMAT® tests taken in the United States during the first five months of calendar year 2006 is closest to the number of tests taken in the United States during the first five months of calendar year 2005.
The number of GMAT® tests taken outside the United States during this time period is closest to the number of tests taken outside the United States during the first five months of calendar year 2004.
Several weeks over the past five months showed an increase over the average testing volume for the previous two years. (Using an average of multiple years provides a better baseline for comparison.)
