    More info on the 11th edition of the GMAT Official Guide

    Hi,
    I spoke to Chad from GMAC. He is the webmaster,the only guy(I believe) at GMAC who knows about new Offical Guide. Every time I called asking about the guide they went fishing for him. He is at Ext 316 on the main line for GMAC www.mba.com. Didn't want to put his number, I don't think he would appreciate it. Suggested he put something like this on the website.

    Here are my notes from the conversation. I think I am ordering all the 3 books today since I take the exam on
    september 6, 2005, i.e in a month.

    Phone call Journal:
    OG 10th edition - Came out in 2000 and had questions retired from GMAT tests before that edition came out.
    OG 11th edition - Just came out 2005 and has questions retired from GMAT tests recently.


    New Features in 11th edition:
    - Has a diagnostic test to assess where you stand.
    - Questions ordered in order of difficulty so that depending on the diag
    test you could skip some lower level questions if you don't have the time.
    - No Overlap with questions from 10th edition - 800 Questions total.
    - Complete with new explanations which have been written in a better way so that it falls in line with the common teaching methods/strategies.

    New Verbal Guide & New Quant Guide
    1) 300 Questions each.
    2) Rewrote explanation on questions that overlap with 10th edition for better understanding and to be in line with the test taking strategies.
    3) Has a refresher course for math to go over basic topics.

    p.s:Although I saw on Princeton Reviews site that these guides have complete overlap i.e all the questions in these guide come from the 10th edition.

    Also he said the GMATPrep software is for test takers for 2006 to get a look and feel for the new fonts when ACT takes over GMAT. But it also has practice
    questions similar to those on GMAT. It is different from Powerprep. Powerprep is the only official feel for the GMAT administered till the end of 2005.

    I have just placed the order also on the GMAC site. Got all the 3 books. Comes out like $70 + Shipping. Taking the exam on Sep 6. Wish me good luck please.....to get an 800 ( i hope -- shoot for the sky so you end up....)
